ACCELERATED READER (AR)

Students select and read books, both fiction and non-fiction, that match their individual ability levels and interests. Upon completing a book, the student takes a brief comprehension quiz on the computer. Accelerated Reader scores the quiz and keeps track of the results, allowing teachers and parents to see how well their child is doing with reading on his/her own. This is "guided independent reading," which we, at Heritage Academy, have found effective for improving reading.
